Christmas is right around the corner and you may be thinking OMG… how on earth am I going to get organised in time. Or worse, how can I afford Christmas this year!! Those are both thoughts I’ve had lately, trust me!
Normally I get organised early and just spend the last few weeks getting one or two extra tricky gifts sorted, otherwise focusing on all the Christmas prep and events instead. But sometimes life gets in the way and you wake up and realise it’s 3 weeks away. Yep, that’s me this year!
I have a large family and for some reason we haven’t gotten around to starting a secret santa with the adults. Instead we all scramble to find budget friendly gift ideas for everyone… including my 9 nieces and nephews! When you’ve got that many people to buy for, trust me, you get very good at finding budget friendly gift ideas!
So while sitting here thinking of some creative ideas for some budget stocking stuffers, it only seemed natural that I should share these ideas with you all!
15 BUDGET STOCKING STUFFER IDEAS FOR CHRISTMAS
1 – FOR THE GREEN THUMB
If you need a gift for someone who is loves to potter in the garden, or maybe just someone who would appreciate a little greenery in their life, these adorable and really affordable little succulent and herb pot kits from Sara’s Garden are so cute! I am not handy in the garden. AT ALL. But I had so much fun putting these together and my eldest daughter helped too. But even more fun is how fast the herbs have been growing. We have basil and coriander growing right now. I can’t wait to get more of these!
2 – FOR THE MOVIE BUFF
One of my go to gifts for my nephews most years is a movie voucher to the local cinema. It’s something I know they will put to use and it gives them a good reason to go out together, or with their mates for a get together. Plus cinema vouchers are a great gift for adding to Christmas cards for distant family and friends too or if you need to travel with gifts!
3 – FOR THE FOODIE
A gourmet feast may not be a budget stocking stuffer idea, but there are plenty of inexpensive gifts your foodie friend will love! Maybe some unique ingredients to go with a recipe you know they would love, or some speciality spice mixes. Or look for a deal for a cooking lesson so they can learn a new dish or dessert. Even more fun, you can join them too!
4 – FOR THE ONE WHO ALWAYS HAS THEIR NAILS DONE
We all enjoy a bit of a pamper and if there’s a lady in your life who loves to have their nails done, or could just use a bit of pampering, Jamberry nail wraps are a fun way to get DIY salon style at home… except cooler! Their heat activated vinyl nail wraps come in over 300 designs, along with their other huge range of nail products. Plus nail wraps are a perfect gift for posting too as they will fit right inside a card! Check out these Jamberry gift ideas for more
5 – FOR THE MUSIC LOVER
If you know someone who always has music going, no matter where they are or what they are doing, a Spotify gift card is PERFECT! Even if they already have Spotify Premium, they can use the credit to get a free month or 3 on you. Or a similar service like Apple Music would be another option too. Music streaming services are definitely taking over traditional ways of listening to music for many and it’s a gift that’s sure to be appreciated.
6 – FOR THE TECH JUNKIE
Whether it’s gaming they are into or general tech obsession, getting them a voucher for their local electronic store is sure to be a winner. Otherwise something adorably nerdy yet functional, like a novelty USB stick or a phone stand are some other fun choices.
7 – FOR THE WINE ENTHUSIAST
Wine tastings are available at many wineries along with multi winery tours and more. This is a great option for a person who you know that loves their wine and can appreciate the different flavours. Check the deals websites like Scoopon or Groupon for discount winery tours or even for budget home delivered selections.
8 – FOR THE NEW AGE
A natural, chemical free lifestyle is something I personally am moving more towards and I know I’m not alone. Essential oils in the place of chemicals are my first choice for cleaning, pain relief and mental clarity. If you know someone else who loves their natural products, essential oils make a lovely gift. Getting them an oil blend that would benefit their lifestyle is thoughtful as well. Doterra make some incredible oil blends.
9 – FOR THE CRAFT BEER ENTHUSIAST
If you have someone in your family who is anything like my husband, craft beer is more than a beverage these days… it’s a hobby! *Yawn* But it does make for an easy gift idea! There are craft micro breweries popping up all over the place and most of them not only allow retail sales of their beers in 6 packs or cartons, but also many have their own take home growler which can be filled with the beer of your choice and taken back for refills as often as you like. This is a fantastic gift for a craft beer fan! And much better than the home brew kit that collects dust and doesn’t get used!
10 – FOR THE PLANNER ADDICT
If you know someone who won’t leave home without their planner or who loves to get a little creative with different colours and stickers, then the way to their heart is clearly through stationary! Washi tape, stickers, coloured pens, highlighters and sticky notes. Head to your local office supply store or Kmart and go crazy with inexpensive planner goodies! Not sure where to start? Check out my getting started with planning post for some ideas.
11 – FOR THE WANDERER
Your wanderlusting traveller friends would love functional items for their next trip. A power bank to charge their devices, compact travel accessories or something to help them remember their trips by, like a travel journal. Or for something fun to track their travels around the world, your global friend will love a scratch map to scratch off their destinations! I got one of these for my hubby for Father’s Day this year. So cool! Check them out here.
12 – FOR THE READER
If you have a friend who loves reading, know their preference, whether it be the feel of a real book or if they like their book digital style, then get them your favourite book in their preferred format. Or maybe the latest release in the genre they love.
13 – FOR THE FASHIONISTA
Do you have a friend who loves to rock their own unique fashion style? While you may not be able to afford their designer tastes, you can pick up a one off item to complete their next look. Local craft markets often have handmade jewellery or hand painted scarves or a number of other fabulous pieces that suit any budget. Your friend will love the thought that goes into picking something just for them too.
14 – FOR THE FITNESS FANATIC
Some people just love to be outdoors and active! Getting fit is their biggest passion and they get a huge thrill out of all things exercise. So get them something functional like a sport drink bottle or towel, or maybe a novelty work out shirt with a fun slogan. Depending on their sport of choice, there’s always something in the budget friendly range that they will adore.
15 – FOR THE ENTREPRENEUR
Got a friend or family member with big aspirations? Get them something to give them an extra boost of inspiration, like a book from a business guru or some useful organisational items for their office. Or if you know their style, some smart looking accessories so they can look the part of the boss babe they are!
Christmas doesn’t need to cost a fortune! After all, it’s the thought that counts! But hopefully these budget stocking stuffer ideas help you plan your Christmas gift shopping list this year!
