Ok, enough of my cheesy Halloween puns!

Super Fun Halloween Party Activities for Adults
These Halloween activities for adults are perfect for your Halloween party entertainment when you want to go a little further than simply rocking up in a cool costume and serving up some spooky Halloween food! I’ve shared a heap of fun Halloween party games but it doesn’t just need to be games to entertain your guests!
This list of Halloween group activities for adults includes games, challenges and fun ideas to make for an epic night of spooky fun!
1. Murder Mystery Game
Transform your living room into a crime scene with a murder mystery game. You can incorporate your guests’ costume characters into the game (or have them each take on a different character for the game) and throughout the night, they work to solve the mystery.
Don’t panic about how overwhelming it sounds to create your own murder mystery party! You can get murder mystery game kits in a board game format or you can even purchase some pretty epic printable murder mystery kits from Etsy too!
You can also go all out and hire a murder mystery company to come and host your event. Many include actors to make it more interactive and exciting!
2. Pumpkin Carving Contest
Set up a pumpkin carving station where guests can create their own jack-o’-lanterns. Provide carving tools, stencils, and plenty of pumpkins. At the end of the night, hold a contest to judge the best pumpkin carvings in various categories like scariest, funniest, and most creative.
If the adult beverages are flowing, this is a Halloween party activity best done at the start of the night. We don’t want any lost digits for the sake of creativity! Or go with pumpkin painting instead for a lower-risk alternative!
3. Halloween Karaoke
Bring out the karaoke machine and let your guests sing their hearts out to spooky tunes and Halloween classics. Create a playlist with hits like “Thriller” by Michael Jackson and “Monster Mash” or just sing whatever the heart desires.
4. Escape Room Challenge
Similar to the group activity of a murder mystery game, create an escape room experience at home. Use puzzles, locks, and riddles to challenge your guests to escape from a “haunted” room. This activity is perfect for smaller groups.
And if you don’t want to make your own escape room challenges, you can get printable escape room games that vary in levels of difficulty.
5. Haunted House Tour
If you have the space, transform parts of your home into a haunted house walkthrough. Use fake cobwebs, eerie lighting, and spooky sound effects to create a terrifying experience. Guide your guests through the haunted areas and see if you can give them a fright!
6. Costume Contest
Have your guests to go all out with their costumes by hosting a costume contest. There’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition to get everyone motivated to put a bit more effort into their Halloween costumes. Here are a few categories you might like to include:
- Best Overall Costume: The classic award for the best-dressed guest.
- Most Creative Costume: Reward those who think outside the box and come up with something really unique and obscure.
- Scariest Costume: For those who love to spook, this category will recognise the most terrifying outfit of the night.
- Best Group Costume: Perfect for friends or families who team up for a themed costume.
7. Photo Booth
Create a Halloween-themed photo booth with props like witch hats, googly eye glasses, and ghost masks in front of a spooky backdrop. You can set up a camera on a tripod for a DIY photobooth at home. We often do this for our bigger celebration sand some of the photos turn out great!
Your guests will love taking spooky selfies and group photos to remember the night. Or they will cringe the next day when you tag them in their ridiculous photos!
8. Scary Movie Marathon
Make it a relaxed sort of Halloween celebration with a scary movie marathon. Pick a mix of classic horror films and some light-hearted Halloween movies to cater to all tastes or go all in on a series, like ‘Halloween’, ‘Friday The 13th’ or ‘Saw’.
If you’ve got a large living room or rumpus room, set it up with cozy blankets and pillows for your guests to relax and enjoy the films. Or set up an outdoor projector and screen for a ‘spooky cinema’ under the stars.
9. Spooky Scavenger Hunt
Plan an adult scavenger hunt with Halloween-themed clues and items. Hide spooky objects around your home or yard, and let your guests race to find them all. This activity can be adapted to suit the size of your party and the space available.
There are quite a few different ways you can do a scavenger hunt. A Halloween treasure hunt could have them seeking a prize at the end or have lots of little surprises along the way.
10. Witch’s Brew Mixology Challenge
Set up a mixology station where guests can create their own Halloween-themed cocktails or mocktails. Provide a variety of ingredients, mixers, and spooky garnishes like eyeball candies and gummy worms or have each guest bring their own supplies.
Hold a taste test to see who concocted the best witch’s brew.
11. Tarot Card Readings
Hire a tarot card reader or set up your own tarot table for guests to get a glimpse into their future. It’s a mystical addition to your party that will entertain your guests – whether they are astrology fans or not.
12. Ghost Story Circle
Gather everyone around a bonfire or firepit in the backyard and take turns telling ghost stories. See who’s got the best story telling skills!
13. Monster Dance-Off
Have a dance competition where guests show off their best moves. Classic dance movies, silly jives and a bit of monster mash is sure to show up in the dance circle!
14. Halloween Charades
Play a Halloween-themed version of charades with spooky characters and scenarios. You can grab my free Halloween charades cards to get you ready for this fun activity. Charades is always good for a laugh and it makes a perfect ice breaker if you’ve got friends from different circles who don’t really know each other well.

15. Halloween Trivia Night
Organise a trivia game with questions about horror movies, Halloween history, and supernatural folklore. If you want to go all out, make it like a pub trivia night with teams, score cards and a prize at the end.
Throw in a round of Halloween would you rather questions to break up the trivia questions.
Get my huge Halloween trivia game bundle with 8 rounds of questions, a warm-up round, answer sheets and a scorecard for a night of complete and utter fun… and a chance to see who the Halloween king or queen is!
16. Apple Bobbing
Have your guests bob in a tub of water for apples to see who has the best skills. A classic game with a spooky twist—try adding fake spiders to the water for an extra scare.
17. Trunk Or Treat
Bring the festive fun of trick-or-treating to your party with a “Trunk or Treat” setup. Invite guests to decorate the trunks of their cars in spooky themes and park them in your driveway or yard.
Guests can then go from trunk to trunk, collecting treats and admiring the creative decorations. This adds a unique twist to the traditional trick-or-treating experience and has become quite the popular event at Halloween in recent years.
To make it even more exciting, hold a contest for the best-decorated trunk!
18. Minute To Win It Games
Add some fast-paced excitement to your party with Halloween-themed “Minute to Win It” games. These quick challenges are perfect for keeping the energy high and getting everyone involved.
Here are a few Halloween Minute To Win It ideas to get you started:
- Mummy Wrap: Divide your guests into pairs and give each team a roll of toilet paper. One person wraps the other like a mummy until the full roll us used, and the first team to completely wrap their mummy wins.
- Witch Hat Ring Toss: Set up a series of witch hats and give participants rings to toss. The goal is to land as many rings on the hats as possible within a minute.
- Pumpkin Stack: Provide mini pumpkins and challenge guests to stack as many as they can within a minute. The highest stack wins!
- Spider Races: Use straws to blow plastic spiders across a table. The person who gets their spider to the finish line first wins.
- Eyeball Spoon Race: Similar to an egg-and-spoon race, but with plastic eyeballs. Participants must balance the eyeball on a spoon and race to the finish line without dropping it.
