At first I was not overly excited. The main reason is I still do a lot of photography with my DSLR camera, despite iPhone being the worlds most used camera these days. I wasn’t even going to get it… But then I thought “Why not?”, as it’s only a couple of dollars anyway and I was curious.
You will be happy to hear it was a worthy purchased of the App. It’s got some pretty impressive perks and features. I’ve created a few super fast pages already that you can see here.
Here is a breakdown of the app in case you too are unsure like I was.
How easy is it to simply create from your phone or iPad? No need to turn on the PC or upload all your pics from your phone. It’s all right there.
This is the biggest benefit. Everything right there in the app. No searching folders for journal cards or being overwhelmed by choice. Just click the items you want, add in your text, pop in your pics and it really is that simple. I created pages in barely a couple of minutes.
You can buy extra kits, page layouts and other in app upgrades to give you more variety.
Already loaded up are around 4 full project life kits – Midnight, Strawberry, Kraft and School themed. Nice starting point, plus 11 page templates, including the ever so popular style A. There’s a few fonts too and basic photo edits.
Drop Box Enabled
If you are like me and take a lot of photographs with a camera, you can add them to your drop box folder and access them straight from the app. Nice!
This means you would be able to use other kits and cards from your personal collection too. Awesome!
I had a bit of a downer moment when I accidentally closed a page down before saving, assuming I had lost it. Turns out no, it auto saves into the app so you can go back and finish pages later.
However there are a few things I would like to see in future updates. Basic photo editing tools are great but they really are basic and for a photoshop addict like me, they don’t quite measure up. Simple enough to do your edits on the PC though and then create on the move. Or you could try using one of the many free or paid photo editing apps, like PS Express, a free mini version of photoshop.
The only downfall is the fact there doesn’t seem to be an option for adding digital embellishments to the cards and photos. I would love to see overlays and digital stamps added down the track, but in the mean time, apps like A Beautiful Mess or Rhonna Designs will allow you to add some extra bling to your pages at least, either to individual photos or onto the completed layout once it is complete.
Overall, the app is pretty great. Especially if like me you are a project life addict or if you are simply looking for new ways to reduce your Scrapbooking mess and creating time by having it all in one tiny place. What will they think of next? Now I just have about 3 months worth of 2014 to catch up on during my 4 week uni break! Wish me luck 😉
If you want to try out the app yourself, you can purchase it from the iTunes Store here.
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
