Air fryer pizza rolls are a quick and easy lunch or dinner idea, or make in bulk and freeze for later. Enjoy your favourite pizza toppings wrapped in crisp, flaky puffed pastry as a fun twist to a sausage roll recipe.

Air Fryer Pizza Rolls

We have been loving our air fryer lately, using it for more and more different things. Not just the basics either. Plus I’m always looking for new interesting ideas for school lunches for the kids.  These air fryer pizza rolls were a winner, with both kids loving them (and us grown-ups too).

The best part – they only take around 15 minutes to prep and cook, which is perfect if you’re short on time for a quick snack or meal idea!

The other thing I love about this air fryer recipe is the fact that I already had all the ingredients I needed already.

The best thing about this recipe is that aside from the puff pastry, you can use any ingredients you already have at home. This is a great way to use up leftovers to make your own loaded pizza rolls in your air fryer.

  • Frozen puff pastry sheets
  • Tomato paste or another sauce of your choice
  • Grated cheese (mozzarella works best)
  • Fillings of your choice – ham, bacon, salami, olives, mushroom etc

how to make pizza rolls in the air fryer

ONE –Place a sheet of puff pastry on a clean surface – either your benchtop or a large board. Spread out tomato paste or pizza sauce on a sheet of puff pastry.

TWO – Add your toppings and grated cheese on top. Have your toppings close to the edge on 3 of the 4 sides as this gives you a little room once you roll your pastry.

THREE – Roll up your puff pastry sheet and press down firm at the end (this was my first one and I didn’t leave a gap with my fillings).

4 – Slice into smaller portions.

5 – Add a sheet of baking paper to your air fryer basket. Not essential however it can help reduce the mess and stop your melted cheese sticking. Bake for around 10-12 minutes in the air fryer on 180 degrees celsius.

And that’s it! Your pizza scrolls in air fryer are ready to enjoy!

They taste great warm, out of the air fryer, or you put them in an airtight container once they have cooled and refrigerate for school lunches. You can also freeze them if you want to make up a big batch in bulk and have some for later.

They are essentially like sausage rolls with the puff pastry but with an airfryer pizza twist! You could absolutely do a similar air fryer recipe using ground beef and fillings or try chicken sausage rolls in the air fryer instead, using a similar method!

Or if you don’t have an air fryer, these pizza scrolls are a great oven-baked alternative.

Which Air Fryer Should I GET?

We have a Philips Air Fryer and we love it. Really easy to use, easy to clean and it does a great job with all the different types of food we cook in it. Ours is an older model now, however, I will absolutely be going Philips again when we need to upgrade. Although ours is doing great so far so hopefully that’s a while away!

Next time we will get the extra-large air fryer though so we can do larger portions of meat too.

For my fellow Aussies, the Kmart air fryers are a great option too. Both mine and hubby’s parents have one and they love it!

Air Fryer Pizza Rolls

Yield: 12
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

Any pizza lover will enjoy these 15-minute air fryer pizza rolls, filled with their favourite pizza toppings.

  • 2 sheets of frozen puff pastry
  • Tomato paste
  • 2 cups Grated cheese (mozzarella works best)
  • Fillings of your choice – ham, bacon, salami, olives, mushroom etc

  1. On a clean surface, lay out a sheet of puff pastry and top with tomato paste.
  2. Add your choice of pizza toppings and cheese, leaving a gap of 2cm on one edge.
  3. Roll up your puff pastry sheet and press down firm at the end.
  4. Slice pastry roll into sections, around 4-5cm each.
  5. Line air fryer basket with a sheet of baking paper. Bake for approximately 10-12 minutes in the air fryer on 180 degrees celsius, or until golden brown.

  • Ensure you leave a gap on one side of your pastry where you have not added toppings right to the edge. This will make it easier to roll your pastry and have it stay in shape.
  • Lining the air fryer basket is optional, however, it can reduce the amount of mess from melted cheese from your rolls.
  • Each sheet of pastry yields approximately 6 party-sized small rolls.
