How To Make Chocolate Reindeer Crackles

This Christmas treat recipe will make around 24 chocolate crackles, depending on the size of your cupcake cases. It is easy to double up the ingredients if you want to make a larger batch.

They are so easy to make that you can throw a batch together in about 20 minutes, from start to finish, then leave them to chill in the fridge until you are ready to serve them!

It is a great recipe to make with the kids too since they can help you stir and spoon the mixture into the cases.

How to make chocolate reindeer crackles

STEP ONE – Mix the puffed rice cereal, desiccated coconut and icing (powdered) sugar together in a large mixing bowl.

STEP TWO – Melt the chocolate melts in a heatproof bowl in the microwave. Microwave 100g at a time for 30 seconds then stir and repeat until completely melted. Take care not to over-melt your chocolate as you will risk burning it. It will often melt as you stir it.

Alternatively, use a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of boiling water on the stovetop.

STEP THREE – Mix the melted chocolate with your dry ingredients, stirring until well combined.

STEP FOUR – Spoon the mixture into cupcake cases. Stick broken pretzels into the top for antlers and add a red candy such as a Jaffa or M&M for Rudolf’s red nose.

STEP FIVE – Place in the refrigerator to set. Keep them stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve them.

This Christmas chocolate crackle recipe also works great with dark chocolate if you prefer.

Are Rice Bubbles And Rice Krispies The Same Thing?

Rice Bubbles and Rice Krispies are essentially the same cereal, although different brands. They are both puffed rice cereals with a few minor differences in added ingredients such as sugar or salt.

In Australia and New Zealand, we generally refer to them as Rice Bubbles whilst in America, they call them Rice Krispies!

Either will work perfectly for this recipe, as will using any other brand of puffed rice cereal.
