Fun Poison Apple Marshmallow Halloween Treats
When it comes to Halloween treats, I love recipes that are simple to make but still have that wow factor. These Halloween apple marshmallows are exactly that.
A few giant marshmallows are transformed into spooky little apples with red chocolate, green chocolate and pretzel sticks for the stems. You can even let the kids help with the decorating, although you may end up with some very creative-looking apple faces!
These are great Halloween treats for kids, whether you’re making them for a Halloween party, school Halloween treats or just a fun afternoon at home. They would also make a cute addition to a platter of Halloween party treats alongside other spooky sweets or for a Snow White party.
And because there’s no baking involved, they’re a particularly easy option when you’re looking for no bake Halloween treats that can be made in advance, just like these spider Oreos and ghost Oreos.
What You Will Need

There are only a few ingredients needed to make these cute Halloween apple treats.
Ingredients
- 6 giant marshmallows
- 3 oz (85 g) red melting chocolate
- 2 oz (57 g) green melting chocolate
- Pretzel sticks
Equipment
- Microwave-safe bowl
- Piping bag
- Parchment paper
How To Make Halloween Apple Marshmallow Treats

This recipe makes 6 chocolate marshmallow apples and takes around 45 minutes, including drying time.
STEP ONE
Place a giant marshmallow on its side. Break the tip off a pretzel stick so it is short enough to insert into the marshmallow without poking through the other side.
STEP TWO
Melt the red chocolate melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until completely melted and smooth.
STEP THREE
Dip the end of the pretzel stick into the melted red chocolate, then insert it into the side of the marshmallow. Allow it to sit for around 30 seconds so the chocolate can begin to set.
STEP FOUR
Dip the entire marshmallow into the melted red chocolate, gently shaking off any excess.
Place the chocolate-covered marshmallow onto a sheet of parchment paper. Repeat with the remaining marshmallows until you have 6 chocolate-covered apples.
STEP FIVE
While the red chocolate is setting, melt the green chocolate melts in the microwave using the same 30-second intervals, stirring between each one until smooth. Transfer the melted green chocolate to a piping bag and cut a very small hole in the tip.
STEP SIX
Once the red chocolate has dried, lay the marshmallow apples flat on the parchment paper.
Pipe two circles onto the front of each marshmallow to create the eyes. Then pipe a wavy line across the front and sides of the marshmallow underneath the eyes.
STEP SEVEN
Fill in the areas around the eyes and above the wavy line with the green chocolate.
STEP EIGHT
Carefully stand each marshmallow apple upright and allow the chocolate to finish setting.
The chocolate may continue to dry for another minute or two once the apples are standing upright, which can add to the spooky, creepy effect.
Once set, they are ready to serve!
Tips For Making Halloween Marshmallow Treats

- Use giant marshmallows so there is plenty of room to create the spooky apple faces.
- Break the pretzel sticks before inserting them so they don’t poke through the other side of the marshmallow.
- Work in small batches when decorating with the green chocolate so it doesn’t set before you finish piping.
- Don’t worry if the green chocolate looks a little uneven. The spooky, imperfect look works perfectly for Halloween!
- Allow the chocolate to fully set before serving.
Storing Your Chocolate Marshmallows

These chocolate marshmallows are best eaten fresh, but they can be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for 2–3 days or refrigerated.
Keep them somewhere cool so the chocolate doesn’t become too soft.
