These engaging group games will make your St. Patrick’s Day party a hoot. Most of the games are great for all ages and are perfect for keeping everyone entertained.

1. St Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt

How to Play:
Hide small treats (like chocolate coins) around the party space. Give players clues to find them, or let them search on their own.

If you plan to hide the prizes in random places, like an Easter egg hunt, you can also hold a bonus challenge in which the player or team that finds the most gold wins a prize!

What You Need:

  • Chocolate coins or small treasures
  • Scavenger hunt clues (optional)

2. Pin the Hat on the Leprechaun

How to Play:
A fun twist on the classic Pin the Tail on the Donkey! Blindfold players, spin them around and see if they can pin the leprechaun’s hat in the right spot on a large poster of a leprechaun.

What You Need:

  • Leprechaun poster
  • Hat cutouts
  • Blindfold

3. Charades

How to Play:
Split players into two teams and act out St. Patrick’s Day-themed phrases, like “catching a leprechaun,” “dancing an Irish jig,” or “finding a four-leaf clover.” No talking allowed!

You can set a timer for 1 minute per round, if you like, to make sure your game is fast-paced. Score a point for your team if you can correctly guess your players’ prompt.

4. St. Patrick’s Day Pictionary

How to Play:
Use St. Patrick-themed words or phrases for a fast-paced game of Pictionary. Players draw clues while their teammates guess what they’re drawing. You can also use charade cards if you have them, giving them a dual purpose!

What You Need:

  • Dry-erase board or large paper
  • Markers

5. Gold Coin Toss

How to Play:
Set up buckets or pots and see who can toss the most gold coins inside. Assign points based on difficulty (e.g., closer pots are 1 point, farther ones are 3 points).

What You Need:

  • Chocolate coins or plastic gold coins
  • Buckets, pots, or cups

6. Leprechaun Hat Toss

How to Play:
Use plastic leprechaun hats and hoops and toss the hats to see if you can land them inside the hoop. Alternatively, a game of horseshoes is a great option since horseshoes are a good luck symbol too!

7. St. Patrick’s Day Bingo

How to Play:
Create bingo cards with St. Patrick’s Day symbols like rainbows, pots of gold, shamrocks, and leprechauns. The first player to get a full row wins!

What You Need:

  • Bingo cards
  • Bingo markers (coins, buttons, or candies)

8. Gold Coin Candy Dice Game

How to Play:

Have a stack of chocolate gold coins in the centre and have each player take 3 coins from the pile to start. Players take turns rolling a dice and following the prompt until one of the players has 10 gold coins in their pile. At this point, each player gets to keep their stash.

9. Find the Four-Leaf Clover

How to Play:
Print out and cut small images of 3-leaf paper shamrocks and only a couple of 4-leaf clovers. Scatter the paper clovers on a table, with only a few being four-leaf clovers. Players must race to find a 4-leaf clover first to win a prize.

The easiest way to do this is to print them out on small squares rather than trying to cut around each clover. That would take forever unless you have a cutting machine like a Cricut to do the hard work for you.

  • Print and cut paper clovers (three-leaf and four-leaf)

10. Irish Jig Freeze Dance

How to Play:
Play some lively Irish music and have guests dance a jig. When the music stops, everyone must freeze. The last person to stop moving is out! Keep going until only one person remains.

11. St Patrick’s Day Never Have I Ever

How to Play:
Play a classic game of “Never Have I Ever” with an Irish twist! Create a list of St. Patrick’s Day-related prompts like “Never have I ever found a four-leaf clover” or “Never have I ever eaten corned beef and cabbage.” Each guest takes a turn sharing something they’ve never done, and others drink or raise their hand if they have.

How to Play:
Similar to “Never Have I Ever,” but instead, the host calls out statements like “Drink if you’re wearing green” or “Drink if you’ve found a four-leaf clover before.” Players follow the prompts and take a drink or sip. How to Play:
Create a St. Patrick’s Day-themed bingo sheet with statements like “Loves Irish music” or “Wearing gold.” Guests mingle and try to match the statements to other players. The first to complete a row or the entire sheet wins!

This is a fun St. Patrick’s Day icebreaker game for a work party or a group of friends or classmates who don’t know each other too well.

How to Play:
Challenge your group’s knowledge with St. Patrick’s Day trivia! Prepare a mix of questions about Irish history, traditions, and fun facts. Divide guests into teams for extra excitement.

15. Green Food Taste Test

How to Play:

This game is similar to the diaper game played at baby showers (but much less gross).

How to Play:
A St. Patrick’s Day twist on musical chairs! Use shamrock-shaped cutouts placed on the floor as “seats.” When the music stops, players must stand on a shamrock. If you are left without a shamrock, you’re out. Remove one after each round until there’s only one person left.

17. Pot of Gold Memory Game

How to Play:
Fill a tray with St. Patrick’s Day-themed items (gold coins, shamrocks, mini leprechaun hats, rainbow glasses). Give everyone 30 seconds to memorise the tray before covering it up. See who can list the most items correctly!

18. Leprechaun Limbo

How to Play:
Grab a limbo stick and test your flexibility! Decorate the stick with shamrocks or rainbows for extra fun. Gradually lower the stick as players take turns going under.

How to Play:

Have players sit in a circle with one person holding a gift or prize. Read out the St. Patrick’s Day left right story and each time the reader says left, the gift is passed left. When they say right, the gift is passed right. Whoever is holding it at the end gets to keep it.
