Easter Popcorn (Bunny Bait)

Combine white chocolate, mini eggs and a few other sweet treats, and you have the perfect Easter movie night treat – Easter popcorn. Also known as bunny bait, this Easter loaded popcorn is so easy to make and great for gifting too!
I have had a weakness for the Cobbs-brand drizzled milk chocolate and sea salt popcorn for a while. I can eat a whole bag in one sitting if I’m not careful, so yeah, adding chocolate to popcorn is something I LOVEEEE! And giving it an Easter twist with mini eggs and sprinkles is just too fun not to try.

Easter Popcorn Ingredients
You need only a few main ingredients to make Easter popcorn, and you don’t have to stick with these ingredients. You can mix it up and make it your own, using these ingredients as a guide:

- Popcorn – Pop your own popcorn or grab a pre-made bag like I did for added convenience.
- Chocolate melts – I used a combination of white chocolate melts and cooking white chocolate but any chocolate works.
- Mini Marshmallows – A little extra sweet and sticky flavour to help your popcorn clump together. And it adds some extra colour too. If you don’t have mini marshmallows, just roughly chop larger ones.
- Mini Easter eggs – You can use Cadbury Mini Eggs or the M&M speckled eggs.
- Pretzels – This adds a little extra salty crunch to your bunny bait.
- Sprinkles – This is optional, but it adds some extra pretty colours and sweetness through your popcorn mix.

How to Make Easter Bunny Bait

The best thing about this Easter dessert recipe is how easy it is to make, which makes it a great Easter treat to make with kids! And you can whip up a batch just before your family movie night too, since it doesn’t need too long to set (just put it in the freezer for a short time).
Step 1: Prep
Prepare by lining a baking tray with baking paper so that the sides of the paper overhang. Add popcorn to a large bowl.
Step 2: Melt Chocolate
Melt the chocolate in the microwave, using a large microwave-safe bowl, in short bursts. I usually put mine in for 30 seconds at a time and stir in between until it is almost melted, then stir until smooth.
If you do not have a microwave, you can melt your chocolate over the stovetop.

Step 3: Pour Over Popcorn
Pour the melted chocolate over the popcorn and combine. Mix in the mini marshmallows and prezels.

Step 4: Pour Into Tray
Pour the popcorn mixture into the lined tray and spread it out. Top with mini eggs, pretzels and sprinkles.
Make sure to work quickly so that your chocolate mix does not begin to set before you spread it out in your lined pan.

Step 5: Refrigerate Until Set
Place your tray into the refrigerator to set for around 10 minutes. You can speed this up by using the freezer for just a couple of minutes instead. Once set, break popcorn into smaller pieces and serve.

Ingredient Substitutions for White Chocolate Easter Popcorn
These Easter popcorn balls can also be made using milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel chocolate or any other flavour you like.
Instead of the hard shell mini eggs, you can experience with other types of mini chocolate eggs, chopped into smaller pieces or just use M&Ms instead. You can also mix in broken pieces of cookies and crackers too for extra texture and flavour.
How To Store Easter Popcorn

Easter popcorn is best served soon after making, while your popcorn still has it’s nice crunchy texture. However, you can store it for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
This isn’t a treat that you can make well in advance like many other Easter treats.
FAQs
How do you store Easter Popcorn?
Store it in an airtight container on the bench for up to 3 days.
What type of popcorn can I use?
You can use any type of popcorn, including pre-made or made at home. If you are popping your own, make sure to remove all the unpopped kernals before mixing through the chocolate.
Should I use salted or unsalted popcorn?
This one comes down to personal preference. I love the salty sweet combination but if you’re not a fan, unsalted popcorn might be a better choice.
