SML March Challenge – Declutter Main Bedroom

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure

The bedroom is the sanctuary of the house but sometimes it ends up more chaos than sanctuary, with an accumulation of clutter and mess. This is hardly ideal as we all need our sanctuary to get that much needed beauty sleep… that somewhere we can relax and recharge. This month we are set to declutter the main bedroom and creating a space we look forward to spending our slumber time.

SIMPLIFY MY LIFE DECLUTTER MAIN BEDROOM

If you have small children, particularly babies and toddlers, you may find you end up with random child related paraphernalia in your bedroom. Toys, kids clothes, nappies and who knows what else. But even without kids, there clothes strewn across the floor, jewellery and accessories across the surfaces and other items that just end up there at the end of a long day (at least they do in my bedroom).

Having a bedroom clear of clutter helps us clear the mind as bed time arrives. Not having to dodge clutter makes a big difference. It is also a massive time saver having your clothing and accessories exactly where they should be, completely organised and uncluttered.

So to get you started on the main bedroom declutter, download the free printable checklist below:

Main Bedroom & Wardrobe Declutter Checklist

This month’s checklist is split into two sections – the bedroom and the wardrobe since both are equally large jobs.

Don’t be worrying about the other bedrooms in the house just yet. One guess what happens next month though ;)

Some quick bedroom declutter tips:

  • Treat your bedroom like the sanctuary it is.
  • Don’t get into the habit of dumping stuff in your bedroom at the end of the day.
  • Make a habit each day or at least once a week of putting stuff that doesn’t belong away.
  • Have your closet organised and put things away straight away.
  • Minimise the amount of decorational and unnecessary furniture items in the bedroom – simple is best.
  • Regularly sort clothing and get rid of items you no longer need.

Stay tuned later in the month too as I share my complete wardrobe make over. You won’t want to miss it as there is something special about that post!

Otherwise pop over to the challenge page for links to other declutter, organise and simplify tasks as part of the Simplify My Life Challenge. It’s not too late to join in. We’ll be going all year long!
